Click on the Tools menu and click on the E-mail Accounts... option.

Select the View or change existing e-mail accounts options and
click Next.

Select your MainTree account then click Change...

On the Accounts screen, click the More Settings... button.

Click the Outgoing Server tab and check the My outgoing server
(SMTP) requires authentication option. Then click Ok.

Click Next then Finish and you are done.
