Good morning,
Yesterday Netsmart announced that they have acquired MainTree's MIS
based products and that I will be joining them as a senior software
developer based out of the Ohio office.
I know this may come as a shock to many and I want to take this
opportunity to try to allay any fears you may have and head off any
rumors before they begin.
I know that since Netsmart acquired CMHC Systems, there have been
questions about their commitment to the MIS platform. Their
acquisition of my products, as well as bringing me in to continue
the development on those and other projects in the MIS, is a
definite sign of their commitment to the MIS's future. The MIS is a
solid platform for the behavioral healthcare community and I'm going
to be part of the team to help keep it moving forward. My experience
and knowledge from the field will be a great asset to Netsmart in
future development projects for both the MIS and to help
connect it to the other products in the Netsmart family.
Over the next few months, I will be working closely to get the
MainTree product line integrated into Netsmart's product line. Right
now I'm working on mtSchedule 3.0, which will be demonstrated in
Orlando next week. BUI Explorer 1.0 has been released to Netsmart QA
for testing. Print to IRMS is currently on track for a Q3 release
and the uScript Toolkit version 3.5 is currently in planning. None
of the MainTree products are being discontinued or shelved.
Another item that I will be working on is uScript itself. I will be
spending time with John Paton over the next couple of months to
learn the inner workings of the compiler and runtime to help its
continued development. Again, Netsmart is committed to the future
of the CMHC/MIS product.
On the community side of things, the MainTree uScript Shared
Libraries will still be available and updated. I'm committed to
keeping these items available as a open source project for the community. I will continue
to host them on MainTree.com until I can talk to the AAI committee
at length about finding a more suitable place to host them. I will
also be involved with NUG and the AAI committee as a Netsmart
representative in addition to my involvement in the new mtSchedule
focus group.
I thank you all for your support over the past few years and I hope
to continue to recieve your support going forward into this exciting future. I also look
forward to seeing many of you in Orlando next week.
Take care,
Jim Songer
